Last Doorway Productions and Black Bed Sheet Books celebrate women in horror fiction by partnering to bring a chilling, all-female horror anthology! Horror Host Miss Misery (Reyna Young) has brought together 13 stories bound to elicit the piercing shrieks women in cinema are known for. Make no mistake, however…these hard-hitting horror gems prove the ‘softer sex’ can bring the punishment, too! Award-winning editor Suzie Lockhart joins this terrifying team, ensuring there will be no sleep tonight. A requirement for all horror-obsessed readers; those who love to read under a blanket with flashlight in hand. This mixture of scares, things that go bump in the night and shocking twists will leave you screaming for more.Stories by Reyna Young, Maureen Whelan, Anna Ace, Cassandra Sechler, Jennifer Nangle, Debra Lamb, Marjorie DeHey, Meagan J. Meehan, Heidi Moore, Lindsey Goddard, Carson Buckingham, Rie Sheridan Rose, and Suzie Lockhart.

Lindsey Goddard

Lindsey Goddard is an escaped mental asylum patient who tells spooky stories to quiet her inner demons. Her debut novella, Ashes of Another Life, was released through Omnium Gatherum Media in August 2016. Goddard is 36, off her rocker, and battier than a Texas cave. She might be sneaking up behind you to scream “Boo!” in your ear as you read this. Although penning fiction is Lindsey Goddard’s first passion, she also loves poetry and writes it often. Meagan J. Meehan

Meagan J. Meehan is a published author, poet, cartoonist, and produced playwright whose first three screenplays have been green lit for film production.

Meagan works as a journalist where she covers Arts & Entertainment and Lifestyle & Leisure topics for a range of publications including Great South Bay Magazine, HVY, Kidskintha, Blasting News, and Entertainment Vine. She is also a stop-motion animator and an award-winning abstract artist. Meagan holds a Bachelors in English Literature from New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), a Master’s in Communication from Marist College, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning from University at Buffalo (SUNY). She is an animal advocate and a fledgling toy, game, and shoe designer.

Carson Buckingham

Carson Buckingham knew from childhood that she wanted to be a writer and began, at age six, by writing books of her own, hand-drawing covers, and selling them to any family member who would pay (usually a dime) for what she referred to as “classic literature.”  When she ran out of relatives, she came to the conclusion that there was no real money to be made in self-publishing, so she studied writing and read voraciously for the next eighteen years, while simultaneously collecting enough rejection slips to re-paper her living room…twice.

When her landlord chucked her out for, in his words, “making the apartment into one hell of a downer,” she redoubled her efforts, and collected four times the rejection slips in half the time, single-handedly causing the first paper shortage in U.S. history.

But she persevered, improved greatly over the years, and here we are.

Carson Buckingham has been/is a professional proofreader, editor, anthologist, newspaper reporter, copywriter, technical writer, novelist, short story writer and comedy writer. She loves reading and gardening, but not at the same time.  Though born and raised in Connecticut, she lives in Kentucky now—and Connecticut is glad to be rid of her!

Anna Ace

Anna Ace is a third generation Halloween enthusiast, born and raised in a family where a passion for all things spooky burned ferociously.  At the tender age of 5, her dream was to grow up and be Elvira for the simple fact that she got to mingle with all the monsters. Although she hasn’t reached icon level, Anna has experienced brief, dream-like moments of rubbing elbows with monsters and like-minded people. It is in large part thanks to being a contributing writer for PopHorror; that she was able to showcase her writing and meet people who encouraged her to continue creating content. When Anna isn’t writing with PopHorror she is creating short stories and bite-sized reviews on her Instagram page @littlepostsofhorror.

Rie Sheridan Rose

Rie Sheridan Rose multitasks. A lot. Her short stories appear in numerous anthologies, including Nightmare Stalkers and Dream Walkers Vols. 1 and 2, and Killing It Softly Vols. 1 and 2. She has authored twelve novels, six poetry chapbooks, and lyrics for dozens of songs. These were mostly written in conjunction with Marc Gunn, and can be found on “Don’t Go Drinking with Hobbits” and “Pirates vs. Dragons” for the most part–with a few scattered exceptions.

Her favorite work to date is The Conn-Mann Chronicles Steampunk series with five books released so far: The Marvelous Mechanical Man, The Nearly Notorious Nun, The Incredibly Irritating Irishman, The Fiercely Formidable Fugitive, and The Elderly Earl’s Estate.

Rie lives in Texas with her wonderful husband and several spoiled cat-children.

Debra is also a screenwriter with several scripts in development.

Suzie Lockhart

Suzie Lockhart hopes to someday bake cookies and tell bedtime stories as well as her favorite TV character, Carol, played by Melissa McBride on TWD. Until then, she plans to busy herself with writing a YA novel with her son and business partner, Bruce Lockhart. Suzie began writing professionally for almost a decade, and sports a healthy list of short stories, as well as anthologies she has edited, either individually or with her son. The pair has several awards under their belt, but plan to spend the upcoming year writing exclusively. Her favorite dark tale is reprinted here, in A Scream in the Night. Suzie is also awaiting the release of the highly anticipated Ghost on Drugs anthology, in which her story Mastery appears.

Cassandra Sechler

Cassandra Sechler is a conceptual artist based in San Francisco, California. She co-manages a DIY film company, Dreams for Dead Cats Productions LLC, where she specializes in writing, directing, photography, and special effects makeup. Her background and interests are in fine art photography, sculpture, and psychology which aid in providing her viewer with expressionistic works that are both personal and poetic. The nature of gender, sexuality, identity, dreams, technological infrastructure, society, and her place within them are often the main focus of her work.

Jennifer Nangle

Jennifer Nangle was raised on Boston’s North Shore where she jumped onto the stage at an early age and never looked back. She received her BFA in Theater Studies at Niagara University and promptly moved to Los Angeles with stars in her eyes… She enrolled at the Laura Henry Acting Studio in Santa Monica and dedicated two years to studying the Meisner, Linklater, and Alexander Techniques. Not one to sit still for too long, she jumped at the chance of creating her own ancient alien role MaKenna for the comedy sci-fi web series GUIDES, but horror has always been her main love. Her short film Demonic Attachment made a bloody splash into the film festival circuit snagging many awards (Nangle particularly being both nominated and winning best actress for her portrayal of “Jennifer Ryan”). You can see her as the newest award-winning horror host on the YouTube web series “Malvolia: The Queen of Screams.”

She wrote, produced, and directed two short films, The Suburban Count and A Sin That Cannot Be Forgiven.

She has acted in and produced several independent films, appeared on television shows and was a guest interviewee in a few documentaries. She has also written several articles that have been published on-line and in print for various publications, including Girls and Corpses Magazine, AWN.com, Backstage 360 and Digital Producer Magazine.
